Witwatersrand (Wits)

Internationally distinguished for its excellent research, high academic standards and commitment to social justice, Wits is one of the top three universities in South Africa. Situated in the economic and industrial heartland of the African continent, Johannesburg, the University’s history is linked to mining, politics and civil activism. Wits alumni include Nobel Laureates, Rhodes Scholars, National Planning Commissioners, Mandela Rhodes Scholars and Chief Justices, notable figures who have made and continue to make their mark in South Africa and around the world.

We work closely with Wits University’s Strategic Planning Division, developing and producing various communications and marketing assets and tools to position the University as a premier South African higher education institution. We created marketing collateral, including a series of survey documents containing statistical data, publications on postgraduate programmes, corporate brochures, adverts and editorials, and various booklets promoting the University to the local and international markets.

“Why Wits?” is a marketing initiative to showcase Wits University as a world-class research-driven institution. The brochure situates Johannesburg as the intellectual hub of South Africa, focusing on acclaimed Wits alumni and research-driven qualifications offered at the University. It positions the University as a premier South African higher education institution and further reflects and shapes the institutional ethos enhancing Wits’ recruitment and stakeholder engagement.

The Wits Biographical Questionnaire Report (BQ Report) aims to comprehensively understand the incoming cohort of first-year students. It seeks to understand aspects such as how the students’ background information can help the institution recognise the factors contributing to the student success agenda and notable changes in the demographic composition of first-year students, which enables the University to ensure that it is well-positioned to provide the necessary and appropriate support.
